Clinical Application of Ultraviolet C Inactivation of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 in Contaminated Hospital Environments

Abstract:

1) SARS-CoV-2 virus could contaminate the environment on different surfaces (plastic, silicone, and stainless steel) in isolation wards, and Hyper Light was effective for virus inactivation by 15 min exposure. An extended exposure period was suggested when managing silicon material items.

2) Use Hyper Light before the standard cleaning process can protect cleaning staff, healthcare workers, and patients from COVID-19 infection risk.

The report was published in Viruses Journal by Dr. Wen-Lin Su, the director of ICU in Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital.
